The top of the table is not always the height where you work. A fixture, vise or tall assembly can raise the joint substantially above it. Decide the position you need to reach and see before selecting table height. A familiar workshop number is a starting reference, not a setting that suits every person and operation.
Measure the working point above the tabletop
List the table surface, fixture height and the part of the assembly you need to access. A low-profile bracket and a tall upright frame can place the joint at very different heights on the same table. Changing the table setting alone may not resolve access if the workpiece needs a different orientation.
For a cold mock-up, arrange a representation of the fixture and work with no welding underway. Use the footwear and ordinary working position you expect to use. Notice whether you can approach, see and reach the area without relying on an awkward sustained pose. Do not turn an improvised height mock-up into a support for actual welding.
Separate seated work from standing work
A seated arrangement needs usable leg and chair space as well as a reachable surface. Shelves, braces and clamp mechanisms beneath the top can obstruct that space even when the nominal height seems suitable. Check where cables and hoses will run without using the floor space needed for entry and exit.
For standing work, consider access around the assembly rather than one position at the center front. A height that feels useful while setting a small piece may not suit a tall fixture or an operation performed at the far edge. Ask for task-specific ergonomic guidance if a workstation must support sustained production or an individual access requirement.
Read adjustment ranges as exact model information
Eastwood lists its 74092 table at 33.25 inches in the standing configuration with leveling feet retracted, and 5.5 inches in its benchtop configuration. The low figure is the table’s contribution above another suitable support, not the final working height of a complete workstation.
Nomad TS3020 currently has conflicting manufacturer height statements: one section names 26, 28 and 30 inches, while the specification information gives 26–32 inches. Ask Strong Hand which positions apply to the exact table before buying around a required height. Do not select whichever statement happens to fit the room plan.
An advertised maximum also leaves questions. Check the minimum, adjustment increments, locking method and whether limits change with configuration. A table described as adjustable may not provide every intermediate height.
Leveling is not a general height-extension method
Leveling feet address the support adjustment permitted by the manufacturer. Do not assume their threaded travel can be used to create arbitrary additional working height. Follow the specified extension, engagement and loading limits.
Similarly, adding casters or placing the table on blocks changes the assembly. Use only a manufacturer-approved arrangement rather than assuming a physically convenient addition preserves stability and capacity. If the required working height lies outside the permitted setup, choose another table or workstation configuration.

Plan adjustment before putting work on the table
Read when and how height changes may be made. Do not loosen a loaded support or tilt mechanism to see whether the table can be adjusted more easily. Clear the work and follow the model’s procedure where required. Learn how to inspect the secured position before it becomes part of the working setup.
If several people will share the table, consider how often it will be changed and whether each required setting is documented. Repeated adjustment can be practical, but only when the process is manageable enough to be performed correctly instead of being avoided.
Keep one successful setup record
Record the actual table setting, support configuration, fixture height and work orientation after a suitable trial. That is more useful than recording a table height alone because it explains where the joint ended up. A change of fixture or task can call for another assessment even when the same person uses the station.
Finish by checking the surrounding space: control access, cable paths, approach routes and the ability to handle the completed work. An appropriate working height cannot compensate for an unsuitable welding location or an unstable support.
