Langmuir’s ArcFlat is a modular fixture block, so the shopping decision has three parts: the block, its support and the tooling. Thinking in those terms makes it easier to compare a single compact setup with a larger joined surface without overlooking necessary hardware.
What the ArcFlat block provides
Langmuir lists a 24 × 36-inch cast-iron block with five machined faces and 336 fixture holes. The current configuration page shows the leg kit and precision joining kit as separate selections. Confirm the order contents before treating the displayed block as a complete freestanding table.
A five-face format lets you investigate top and side workholding. Whether that helps depends on the part: draw where you need the reference face and where the torch must reach. A side clamp can be useful while still interfering with a nearby joint.
One block and joined blocks are separate configurations
Start by laying out the ordinary work on a single block. If you need more area only occasionally, sketch the intended multi-block arrangement and its supports. Ask Langmuir which components that arrangement requires.
The precision joining instructions describe a particular bolt-and-liquid-shim procedure. Follow that document for its intended hardware. Simply bolting two blocks together does not establish the same alignment result, and an improvised joining method should not inherit the manufacturer’s precision claim.
Read the tooling claim with its qualification
The ArcFlat page discusses both 5/8-inch and 16 mm tooling, but that is not a reason to call the sizes identical. For third-party accessories, confirm the actual pin, locking mechanism, grip range and any multi-hole pattern with the accessory maker.
The current page also gives differing hole-tolerance notations in its specification and FAQ sections. If a close fit is central to your purchase, ask Langmuir to clarify the applicable value in writing. Do not choose whichever number makes an accessory appear compatible.
Choose fixtures around the shape of the work
For rectangular assemblies, identify the surfaces that set location before deciding where to apply pressure. For round stock, investigate the appropriate supports rather than assuming a flat stop will do everything. Keep clamps clear of the joint and the access required to inspect it.
A compact starter arrangement is easier to assess than an oversized mixed kit. Ask for specific accessory recommendations against your drawing and add pieces when a new operation requires them. Compatibility on paper still needs correct installation and use.
Support and delivery belong in the plan
Check the finished working height with the selected legs and the path by which the components will reach the shop. Arrange handling suitable for the actual shipment; a modular product can still contain heavy individual pieces.
For a joined setup, request confirmation of support locations and the limits that apply to the completed arrangement. A single-block rating should not be multiplied into a new assembly rating. Include overhanging work and fixture weight when describing the intended use to the supplier.
Compare ArcFlat with a kit on the work you avoid
A cast block avoids the weld-together top assembly required by some kit designs. That can be valuable when you want to concentrate on making parts. It still leaves setup, workholding selection and any multi-block alignment to be completed properly.
Compare the delivered configuration with an assembled kit or finished alternative that offers the same working area and reference faces. The useful question is which route meets your inspection needs with an amount of setup work you are prepared to undertake.
Plan the block, support and fixtures as one setup; treat multi-block alignment as a documented installation task.

The manufacturer’s configuration page lists the leg kit separately. Check your exact order or bundle rather than assuming the block price includes legs.
Can I join two ArcFlat tables with ordinary bolts?

Will every 16 mm fixture fit ArcFlat?
